How It All Started
"After years of living in Alaska, I wanted to be closer to my grandkids and find a way to share my passion for art with others. I’ve always believed that creativity is for everyone, and I wanted to build a space where people could slow down, paint, and create something truly special. Nana’s Kiln Time is more than a pottery studio—it’s a place where people connect, laugh, and leave with not just a painted piece, but a memory."

Meet Sparticus The Real Studio Boss
"Hi, I’m Sparticus! You’ll find me lounging in the studio, making sure everyone is relaxed and happy while they paint. My job includes greeting customers, supervising artistic efforts, and politely begging for attention. If you ever need a creativity boost, I recommend a head scratch—it works wonders!"
Sparticus is our official studio mascot, and he takes his role very seriously—which mostly involves napping, wagging his tail, and offering moral support to painters. While he won’t help you with your design, he’s always happy to keep you company!
Have a dog allergy or prefer a pet-free experience? Let us know, and Sparticus will happily relax in his VIP lounge.

Memorable Moments The Stories We Love
Some of our favorite moments come from the stories our guests create while painting their pottery.
A Grandmother’s Gift: One of our favorite memories was when a grandmother and her grandson came in to paint together. She told us she had been doing ceramics for years, and this was her first time introducing her grandson to it. They painted matching mugs, and when they came back to pick them up, he told us it was his "favorite thing he had ever made." That’s what we love most—helping people create not just pottery, but lasting memories.
Sparticus the Art Critic: Sparticus once decided to claim a chair at a table full of painters, watching every brushstroke with careful attention. One guest joked that "he must be the real pottery expert here!" Whether he approves of your art or just wants a front-row seat to the fun, Sparticus is always part of the experience.
